Greetings!
I’m Don Bergquist, the photographer here at Frost Lake Photography.
A native of South Florida, I was born and raised in Miami. I spent a distracted college career trying to decide where I wanted to attend and what I wanted to study which ended with my being awarded my degrees from the University of Central Florida in Broadcast Production with a secondary major in Computer Science.
After college, I slouched about a bit. I drove my car to my parents’ home in Minnesota dropping off resumes in every town that was big enough to have a television station. The market was tight (and I hate cold calling) so when I reached Kensington, I was still without a job. My baby brother was working at a summer camp in Northern Minnesota and told me that they were looking for a driver for the camp bus. So I got myself a Minnesota Class B Driver’s license and I had my first job out of college.
My career, from the very early days was a checkered one - a member of the traffic staff at Tampa TV station, Office Coordinator for a Television Representation company, and Associate Producer at the local cable company. That all changed in 1989 when I joined a company in Memphis, Tennessee as a Customer Service Representative for a broadcast traffic automation system. It led me to a nearly 21-year history with that company. During that time, I consulted, traveled, installed systems, trained both internal and external students. I visited practically everywhere in the US and Canada, and even got to live in the UK for a while on-assignment. In fact, I've traveled extensively in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, and South Africa. What fun!
In May 2010 my company out-sourced a large portion of their development and my job went to India. No biggie! I took some time off and then started a new position with a competing company a couple months later. I have yet to decide what I want to do "when I grow up." But then, I haven't quite decided if I want to grow up yet!
